Once in a blue moon, comes a film so enjoyably stylish and cool - however derivative of the genre. But the familiarity of this pulp noir setup and structure is a foresight upon reflecting on the sheer joy of its craft and the intrigue of the cast of characters. This movie took me by surprise, simply by the charm of it's sordid cast of characters and mastery of this Reservoir Dogs-esque character-centric chapter structure. But also, of course, it's eclectic 60s soundtrack chock full of choice soul and psych rock tracks.
The presence of the Wurlitzer 45 record jukebox doesn't hurt either. 😎
